We are delighted to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Dubois, a CLTS Faculty member and an Assistant Professor within the Department of Communication at the Faculty of Arts, has been awarded the Faculty of Arts’ 2020 Early Researcher of the Year Award.

Ugwu successfully defended her PhD in Law thesis titled “Harnessing the Multilateral Patent and Plant Variety Protection Regimes to Advance Food Security: Implications of the EU-ECOWAS Economic Partnership Agreement,” and written under the supervision by CLTS Faculty members, Professor Chidi Oguamanam and Professor Jeremy de Beer.

The University of Ottawa and Scotiabank announced the creation of a new Initiative that will define problems and identify solutions to essential issues related to ethical AI and technology development. The AI + Society Initiative will be led by Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteau, Director of the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society and an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section.
