On August 12, 2013, Sessional Professor Anne Uteck successfully defended her doctoral dissertation “Reconceptualizing Spatial Privacy for the Internet of Everything” at the Faculty of Law.
Professor Jennifer Chandler has received $155,000 in funding as a co-leader of the Law and Ethics Group within the Canadian National Transplant Research Program (CNTRP). The funding will allow her to conduct ethical and legal research related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation over the next five years. She will be able to support graduate and JD students interested in working with her in this area.
On April 8-9, 2013, Professor Ian Kerr and third-year common law student Diana Marina Cooper participated in the second annual robotics and the law conference: “We Robot: Getting Down to Business”, held at Stanford Law School. The conference examined the immediate and commercial prospects of robotics, including topics such as intellectual property, tort liability, legal ethics, and privacy by design.
On April 4, 2013, Jennifer Barrigar successfully defended her doctoral dissertation “Time to Care about Reputation: Re-Viewing the Resonance and Regulation of Reputation,” putting an exclamation point on a gratifying course of study at the Faculty of Law, amongst a wealth of resources and experts.
Professor Teresa Scassa has published a new book, with Michael Deturbide of Dalhousie University, entitled Electronic Commerce and Internet Law in Canada, 2nd Edition.
Common Law students Alexandra Mogyoros, Abigail Smith and John Wallace won first place at the Oxford International Intellectual Property (OXIP) Moot competition in Oxford, England, over the weekend of March 14-16, 2013.
