  The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce that Faculty member Dr. Céline Castets-Renard just published, alongside co-editors Valère Ndior et Lukas Rass-Masson, Enjeux internationaux des activités numériques with Larcier.

• CIPPIC testifies on the need for a national plan to achieve universal broadband adoption

  

  Last week, CIPPIC testified before the House of Commons' INDU committee, outlining steps that could be taken to move Canada toward universal adoption of fast and reliable Internet. Substantial provincial and federal resources are being leveraged to connect households across Canada. Yet full and universal Internet adoption is an ambitious goal, one that will require a coordinated national effort and strategic mobilization of cross-cutting resources.

• Haewon Chung successfully defended her doctoral thesis

  The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce that on November 20th, 2020, Haewon Chung successfully defended her PhD in Law thesis titled “Patent Conflicts in User-Driven Biotechnology: Examining Knowledge Management Strategies for Patentable Research Resources to Stimulate DIY Bio and Other Social Production in Biotechnology”, and written under the supervision of CLTS Faculty member Dr. Teresa Scassa.

• Dr. Dubois and Dr. Martin-Bariteau publish Citizenship in a Connected Canada: A Research and Policy Agenda

  The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce the publication with the University of Ottawa Press of Citizenship in a Connected Canada: A Research and Policy Agenda edited by CLTS Faculty members Dr. Elizabeth Dubois and Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteau. This interdisciplinary edited collection brings together scholars, activists, and policy makers to build consensus around what a connected society means for Canada. The collection offers insights on the state of citizenship in a digital context in Canada and proposes a research and policy agenda for a way forward.

• Céline Castets-Renard publishes Droit du marché unique numérique et intelligence artificielle

• Marina Pavlović appointed on Council of Canadian Academies’ Expert Panel on high-throughout networks for rural and remote communities

  The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce that Faculty member Marina Pavlović has been appointed by the Council of Canadian Academies to an Expert Panel on High-Throughput Networks for Rural and Remote Communities that will examine the legal, ethical, social, and policy issues associated with deploying and adopting reliable high-speed Internet in rural and remote communities.
