The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce that Faculty member Dr. Michael Geist has received the Privacy & Access Council of Canada (PACC) Fellowship Award for his work in privacy and access to information in Canada.
The PACC Fellowship Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the information privacy and access-to-information profession in Canada, who play a pivotal role in inspiring new generations of data protection professionals, and whose distinctive leadership and integrity has had a long-lasting positive impact on the profession and on public policy.
Dr. Michael Geist is the Canada Research Chair in Internet and e-Commerce Law, a Faculty member at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society, and a Full Professor in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa. He regularly appears in the Globe and Mail. He is the editor of several monthly technology law publications, and the author of a popular blog on Internet and intellectual property law issues. He serves on many boards, including Ingenium, Internet Archive Canada, and the EFF Advisory Board.
The PACC has also donated to the Ian R. Kerr Fellowships Program, which will continue his remarkable legacy by supporting students, innovative programming, and cutting-edge research.
