How will tomorrow’s developments in artificial intelligence and big data intersect with healthcare, and how should our laws, policies, and ethics evolve to be ready?
MACHINE MEDICINE: HOPE, HYPE AND HURDLES
The ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’, powered by advanced computing and large data sets and characterized by a fusion of the physical, digital, and biological spheres promises to radically and rapidly transform many sectors including health care.
Moderated by the Chief Scientist of Canada, our panel of leading experts from Canada and the US will look past the hype of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to discuss the real prospects for transformation in health care. The panel will discuss how the hope of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is intimately tied to surmounting many legal and ethical hurdles: protecting human rights, privacy, achieving adequate regulatory oversight, navigating the disruption of labour markets, and maintaining human compassion in a world of machine medicine. This event will set the stage for a more fulsome discussion at our Machine M.D. conference the day following, where we will further examine how the Fourth Industrial Revolution might be shaped to reflect our common values and objectives in health care.
